Honors English 10 is an integrated approach to reading, writing, listening, and speaking curriculum based on the Reading/Language Arts Frameworks for California Public Schools. The course is meant to be more rigorous and challenging than the regular English 10 course in hopes to prepare students for a higher level English course in 11th grade (AP/IB). This course is a balanced, comprehensive program that develops skill in reading and writing, speaking and listening while fostering an appreciation of language arts through thematic units touching on specific elements within literature (plot, setting, character, voice, theme, irony, symbolism). In addition, students will be exposed to a wide variety of literary genres (short stories, poetry, non-fiction, drama etc.) Students will continue to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the ninth grade, but in a more refined and sophisticated form.
