    • Fortunately/Unfortunately Game: Start with a statemeent (I went to the movies yesterday). Go around the circle starting with,unfortunately (Unfortunately, the movie was sold out) then  the next person starts with fortunately (fortunately, I was able to get tickets to a different movie I wanted to see). Switch back and forth until someone pauses too long or starts with the wrong word. 

    Wednesday:

    • Read and Outline Chapter 3: Section 1: Listening is More Than Hearing

    • Good Listening Checklist
    • Assignment (Due Tuesday): Keep a log for 48 hours in which you record how many times you use the four ways to listen (Appreciative, Discriminative, Empathic, Critical) and make a small notation about each time you listened that way.  On Tuesday, we will discuss: How many times did you use each type of listening.  Did you use one type more than others? Why? Do you need more practice in using some types of listening? How can you get practice?
